"I don't think you can treat the world's second-largest economy as either an alternative investment or un-investable, that would be wide of the mark," Bilton said. Uncertainty around monetary policy and a shrinking labor force are further causes for concern, Bilton noted. Some analysts saw this as potential dovish policy shift from the PBOC, which has appeared reluctant to take measures that could boost the struggling economy. Financial bodies including the International Monetary Fund have called for further monetary policy reforms since then. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva told CNBC this week that China had been advised to make use of more of its available fiscal and monetary policy space.

Aside from surreal cage fight plans, Zuckerberg wants to displace Twitter with a clone called Threads. The timing is perfect: Twitter is in disarray and the Meta chief is ready to capitalize on the chaos. Zuckerberg is set to bring his Twitter killer, Threads, out into the wild this week, with pre-orders for the "text-based-conversation" service going live on Monday. What the new Threads app looks like. If Musk doesn't get Twitter back into shape soon, he'll be a loser in the virtual arena too.

What Was Twitter, Anyway?

Dorsey had nurtured the basic idea of Twitter for years — a site that would be like AOL Instant Messenger’s “away message” for anywhere, or “a more ‘live’ LiveJournal,” as he put it in a post on Flickr. But Williams, who created Blogger and sold it to Google for millions, came to see something else in Twitter: To him, its potential lay in its ability to create a running record of what was going on in the outside world. Dorsey was insistent that it was the latter: “You’re talking about your status as you look at the fire.”To Dorsey, the fact that Twitter creates a record of the world would be an incidental byproduct of all this status-sharing. He posted it to Twitter with a brief caption. Dorsey and Williams were correct to identify this as a conflict, even if they could not design or engineer it away.
A leaked sales deck for 2017's Fyre Festival contains the pitch CEO Billy McFarland gave investors ahead of the failed event. The sales deck contains misleading information about Fyre Festival and has been described as "beyond parody." Fyre Festival was advertised an upscale music festival in the Bahamas, complete with luxury beach villas, gourmet food, private jets, and supermodels and influencers galore. The pitch deck was first reported on in 2017 by Vanity Fair's Nick Bilton — who uploaded the full deck online — and recirculated on LinkedIn. Read on to see some of the most shocking, outlandish, and surreal slides from the Fyre Festival pitch deck.
MELBOURNE, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Australia hailed Graham Arnold's new "golden generation" on Thursday and fans demanded a national holiday as the country celebrated the Socceroos' unlikely advance to the World Cup knockout phase. Hard work gets you places," Australian soccer pundit Adam Peacock wrote on the Herald Sun newspaper's website. Veteran winger Mathew Leckie's goal was declared Australia's best World Cup goal ever after he wrong-footed defender Joakim Maehle and fired low past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Australians will dare to dream of a first World Cup quarter-final even with the might of Lionel Messi and Argentina in the way. "In fairness, Australia and Argentina have won the same amount of FIFA World Cups since 1987," local journalist Ned Balme tweeted.
Elon Musk has made headlines for his recent tweets, which include posts about guns and Apple. Critics say the Twitter CEO's use of the platform could further endanger the struggling company. There's also been discord at SpaceX, the rocket company Musk operates. In a story for New York Magazine, Kevin Dugan wrote that Musk is unlikely to change his ways anytime soon. "It's now been a week since Elon Musk has taken over Twitter, and one thing that's clear about his reign is that he will never, ever touch grass."
There are good times ahead for the beleaguered 60/40 portfolio, according to a new report from JPMorgan. The 60/40 strategy, known as a balanced portfolio, has had a terrible year amid falling bond prices and stock market volatility. One measure of the portfolio's performance is the iShares Core Growth Allocation ETF , which has a target fixed allocation of 60/40. While inflation is still running hot, the firm expects it to subside over the next two years to reach 2.6%. "Margins will likely recede from today's levels but not reverse completely to their long-term average, and valuations present an attractive entry point," Bilton said.
The forward outlook for investors is the best since 2010, according to JPMorgan Asset Management. This year is on pace to be the worst for stocks since 2008, but the long-term investing outlook is as promising as it's been since 2010, according to JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM). Both developments give long-term investors an attractive entry point. That's far lower than the 2.9% growth that the world saw from 2010 to 2020, according to JPMAM's 2021 report. How to invest for the long termInvestors should build long-term portfolios around three asset classes, according to JPMAM: stocks, bonds, and alternative assets.
In this photo illustration, former U.S. President Donald Trump's archived Twitter account is shown on a phone screen with the Twitter logo in the background. And they happen to be the hands of Elon Musk, the richest person in the world and one of the app's most high-profile provocateurs. 2006In March, Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams created Twitter, which was originally a side project stemming from the podcasting tool Odeo. 2011Twitter became an essential social media tool used during the Arab Spring, the wave of antigovernmental protests throughout Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. The combined wealth of Williams, Dorsey, and Costolo hit roughly $4 billion.
